The Revenue Dashboard
For many editors on the platform, generating revenue will be a less familiar and greater challenge than building excellent content. Our goal is to make that easier for you and to improve our tools and support based on your feedback!
Your site includes features that allow anonymous users to support your work with donations and upload paid advertisements but the bulk of your income will come from actively seeking out customers and broadening your readership. The tips included in our guide to your first two weeks have truly worked for our most financially successful editors.
Editors and salespeople (see managing members) have a Revenue tab as shown above. This is where you create and monitor your revenue items including Advertisements , Sponsored Content , Featured Events , and Supporters . Designed to be used while talking with a potential customer, you will be prompted to enter the most vital information first to help complete your sale, save, and return later if needed.
Creating Revenue Items:
Above are examples of steps you'll see when creating revenue items here. If you prefer the way advertisements were created before, that method is still available by clicking Advertise in the POST... menu above. That other form, by the way, is what a user would see if they upload an advertisement on their own.
Payment Options:
Enter you customer's credit information on the spot or email a form they can use to enter information on their own time. You also have the option to charge your customer as soon as credit details are complete, or hold completed credit information and process payment at a later date.
Monitoring Your List of Revenue Items:
You may have an advertisement that is published but not earning money, paid for but missing an image, or temporarily unpublished for editing. Here is where you'll see the status of your revenue items at a glance. Below are a few typical items with their status explained.
Item Detail:
Clicking an item on your list will show a detail page allowing you to view and edit more information about your revenue item.
