Advertising in Detail
Here are several tools to help you sell advertisements on ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
Creating Advertisements:Please see our Ad Builder How-To Guide for an explanation of the easiest way to get ads up on your site. This also explains how potential advertisers will be able to upload and pay for ads on their own.
Ad Types:There are four advertisement levels that can be purchased on the site. Image sizes and locations differ depending on the level.
- Website Leaderboard: This appears at the top of the website and on the website sidebar. The website top image is 1200 x 310 pixels and the sidebar image is 300 x 250 pixels. On mobile, the 300 x 250 pixels ad will appear at the top of the site and will rotate between articles when another ad occupies the top position.
- Website Standard: For this ad level, a 300 x 250 pixels ad appears on the website sidebar and a wider narrow image 728 x 90 pixels will appear between articles. On phones, the 300 x 250 pixels image will appear between articles.
- ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøletter Leaderboard: When daily newsletters are triggered by new content on the site, a 1200 x 310 pixels ad will appear at the top of the email on your desktop and a 300 x 250 pixels ad will appear at the top of your mobile email.
- ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøletter Standard: This 300 x 250 pixels ad appears within the body of emailed newsletters as seen on a computer and on mobile.
Advertisements rotate at random in each category except ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøletter Leaderboard. So if there are three leaderboard ads running on a site, they will randomly appear (not round-robin). This means that even though it's possible to see the same image a few times in a row, in aggregate, each ad will get the same amount of airplay. If there is a secondary ad placement, as described above, no two images from the same ad will appear at the same time. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøletter Leaderboard images will rotate round robin to ensure they all get equal viewing time. Also, newsletter advertisements will be on "breaking news announcements" whenever those are sent by the editor.
Advertise With Us Page:We encourage you to create a personal message to promote advertising on your site. There is an Advertise With Us page accessible from the Advertise button on your site. You can edit this page via an "Edit" button at the bottom or from a link at the bottom of your Organization options page.
The Managing Members section explains how to make a registered user a commissioned seller on ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and set their per sale income percentage. Your salesperson will only recieve a commission if selected before checkout (shown below). If you created an ad with the help of a Patch Labs salesperson, make sure you check the box. The Patch Labs Salesperson will recieve %15 of the advertisement revenue after the platform and service fee is deducted. Let us know if you'd like to work with our sales expert to boost ad sales on your site!
If you wish to give a commission to your own salesperson, hit Save as draft instead. Open the detail view of your saved ad under your Revenue tab (shown below), select your salesperson, click the blue "Update Information" button and proceede to "Add Payment Details." The Labs Salesperson and your commissioned seller are able to add themselves to sales in this mannnar when they create ads themselves.

Payment Options:Enter you customer's credit information on the spot or email a form they can use to enter information on their own time. You also have the option to charge your customer as soon as credit details are complete, or hold completed credit information and process payment at a later date.
To return to these options before payment is arranged, find your ad in the list of revenue items on your Revenue Dashboard and select it to show the revenue item details. From the detail page, click Add Payment Details, shown below, and you will find the same payment options.
You'll find a link to edit under your Revenue tab. This will bring you to a page where you can upload images, set the ad link, and delete the ad.
