EVENT BUILDER: HOW-TO GUIDE

The Event Builder allows editors and visitors to promote events on the calendar. Featuring an event will display it more prominently and helps Patch Labs editors earn revenue for their site. Questions or suggestions? Send an email to labs@patch.com




HOW TO CREATE AN EVENT USING THE EVENT BUILDER



To get started, click the yellow Post button on the top right of your site and then choose An event to the calendar. (Note: there is also a link on your calendar sidebar Add Your Event Now)




Step 1: Choose the start date and time of your event.




Step 2: Enter the name of your event and click next.




Step 3: Add the details about your event location.

City and State are required. If the event is virtual, you can leave the pre-filled City and State, which are mapped to your sites geographic location. Click Next once you finish adding in the details.




Step 4: Add a description of your event.

You can copy/paste from the event organizers website or add the details manually. Note: there is a 60 character minimum for all event descriptions. 250 characters is recommended. Once your details are entered, click Next.




Step 5: Next, youll want to add a photo. If you already have a photo available, select Yes and drag the file from your computer. Then, hit Next.

If you dont have a photo, select Find One."

Type in a word that closely matches the description of the event and then click Search. Click on your preferred image and then click Next.




Step 6: Review your event details. If you notice any typos or missing information, you can click Back to go back and make changes. If everything looks good, click Confirm.




Step 7: If youd like to feature the event, choose the dates youd like to promote the event and then click Finish.

If you dont want to feature the event, uncheck Feature this event and then click Finish.

If this is your first post on the site, you will be asked to confirm your identity.

After entering all the details below, a "Send Code" button will appear. Click the button to receive a text with the code and a field will appear for entering that code.
